-----------------------

English version Version française

INRIA and Microsoft are proud to inaugurate their joint Research Centre today.

This event marks the continuation of the cooperation that was started by relationships between individual researchers at INRIA and Microsoft and has since seen a number of successful institutional cooperation projects emerge.

The creation of this joint Research Centre demonstrates the international repute of French research in the field of information technology. It is also proof of the two founders' determination to achieve a shared ambition to make fundamental progress that will be beneficial to both science and society.

The joint Research Centre will conduct long-term research into formal methods, software security and IT methods and tools designed for science.

The joint INRIA – MICROSOFT Research Centre is based in Orsay, France and already employs around 15 research engineers.

Under the management of the INRIA Research Director, Jean-Jacques Lévy, the centre is controlled by a management committee made up of equal numbers of representatives from INRIA and Microsoft. The researchers work in an open and collaborative environment. The results of their work will be made public in scientific publications and through the creation of software tools and prototypes that will be made available to the scientific community free of charge. The commercial use of the work done by the laboratory will be jointly determined by INRIA and Microsoft in strict respect of the regulations in force in France.
