Come to meet research scientists, engineers and technicians from our Institute and discover their activities, knowledge, and professions, from October 8-14 throughout France.
On the occasion of the 16th Science Fair, INRIA offers the general public an opportunity to meet its research scientists and engineers working in the Information and Communication Science and Technology (ICST) field. In order to keep the public informed of the latest developments in science and the impact of mathematics and new technologies, INRIA will present its activities, knowledge, and professions in most of the regions where it has offices. Our researchers are working hard to get ready for this yearly meeting between science and society, from October 8-14.
- from 12 to 14 October in the Science Village in Paris’ jardin des plantes
Have you heard of sudoku? To solve a sudoku puzzle, strategies are worked out by examining the possible combinations. These principles fall within the scope of constraint programming. INRIA explains the computer techniques used to resolve this type of problem.
You can have fun refreshing your knowledge of computer science by playing the “random access memory” board game, developed by a team at INRIA. The rules of the game are simple: reach the last square by throwing the dice and answering the questions.
The science-based website, Interstices, gives you the chance to test your knowledge of ICSTs. You must find the corresponding answer for each image presented. There are three possibilities for each image. It’s up to you to decide! Then you can discover the correct answer. To find out more, visit the Interstices website.
- from 12 to 14 October at the Ferme du Moulon on the Saclay plateau

- from 11 to 13 October at the Parc Scientifique de la Haute Borne in Villeneuve d'Ascq

Jointly organised by the INRIA Futurs research centre (Lille), SciencesOparK offers you a surprising three-day journey. Discover a world of science, as you have never seen before. Alone, in a group or as a family, set out to discover the world of research using games, animated films and demonstrations present throughout the park. Researchers will accompany you throughout your journey to explain where research is hidden in your everyday life and how it is shaping the society of tomorrow.
- 12 and 13 October from 10am to 7pm on INRIA premises at its Grenoble - Rhône-Alpes research centre in Montbonnot.
On the agenda:
On the agenda: scientific games, films, exhibitions, etc
Teachers will also have the chance to discover the workshops designed for science students using our experimental platforms on the following themes: micro-nanotechnologies, virtual reality, robotics, movement recognition, the Internet and visual impairment, 3D vision, genome exploration.
Warning: on Friday, 12 October, certain platforms will be reserved for school visits. They will be reopened to the general public on Saturday, 13 October.
- on 6 October on the premises of the INRIA Nancy-Grand Est research centre on the Vandoeuvre-lès-Nancy university campus
On the agenda: demonstrations, exhibitions, games and scientific films.
- from 12 to 14 October in the village des sciences in Rennes.
The TEMICS project-team focuses its work on mechanisms that provide effective storage and transfers of video and 3D digital images whilst conserving their quality and protecting them against errors, possession of stolen goods and falsification.
The researchers will display the techniques used to achieve this, such as compression, corrective codes and image watermarking.
Each of these elements will be illustrated using an interactive demonstration. The 3D videos will be displayed on an autostereoscopic screen providing an image that gives a “depth perception” to the viewer.
- from 10 to 14 October in the village des sciences on the Valrose campus at the Université de Nice Sophia Antipolis
Under the marquee in the heart of the village of Valrose (permanent activity centre on the central green)
Quizzes, games and activities at your disposal...
