On November 6, 2008 Philippe Gilet, cabinet director for the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, decorated INRIA Deputy General Director Jean-Pierre Vejus as knight of the Legion of Honor.

In his speech, the Cabinet Director highlighted Jean-Pierre Verjus’s exemplary 40-year career serving education and research at INRIA. He also emphasized the personal and managerial qualities admired by one and all. This award pays tribute to a major figure in French science.
