On September 26, starting at 6 pm, the INRIA Lille - Nord Europe and Sophia Antipolis - Méditerranée research centres mobilize to offer to all scientific meetings of exception. This is the occasion for everyone to meet the research teams during a festive and educational evening.

All that you always wanted to know about the researchers...

Today, scientific knowledge is one of the essential keys to understanding our world. Yet it is often hard to access. European Researchers' Night is born of the principle that we can offer many scientific events, free of charge, so that the public may discover the world of research and foster an understanding of science. Who are researchers? What are they looking for? How do they work? What results do they achieve? What vision do they have of society? What is their place in society?

A "natural" evening in the park Phoenix of Nice

For the 2008 edition, the research centre INRIA Sophia Antipolis - Méditerranée opts "sciences and nature". In a big Mediterranean park, the researchers suggest to the public discovering an exhibition on the subject " nature, health and multimedia " but also to relax around games (petanque, pilou), of quiz, music concerts, a second exhibition photo... and more still.

The sciences staged to the theater Sebastopol of Lille

The research centre INRIA Lille - Nord Europe participates with the other research partners in the evening " In the theater this evening ". From 6 pm till midnight, researchers from the Lille region will take over the stage at the Theater Sébastopol with the help of the many talented actors from the Improvisation League of "Marcq en Baroeul", to present to you their spectacular work. Virology, neurology, robotics, IT... All these sciences are going to be represented and staged. During the same evening, youngs are going to be able to be amazed around an animation on fractales, and big attend surprising sceneson the boards of the theater. After the spectacle, the evening is going to continue in the Bar of the Artists with the public.

Shows, meetings, exchanges, debates …. Researchers' Night offers the opportunity to share an exceptional moment with scientists while setting aside the stereotypes we harbor about researchers.
