INRIA links up with MITACS

INRIA CEO Michel Cosnard signed a collaboration agreement with MITACS, a Canadian network for mathematical and computational sciences, on July 2nd, in presence of French Prime Minister François Fillon and his Canadian counterpart. INRIA thus confirms its partnership strategy in North America. Objective: to pursue and develop scientific collaborations across the Atlantic.

Since 1998, INRIA is collaborating with twenty universities and companies in Canada, mainly French-speaking. In accordance with its partnership strategy, INRIA aims at reinforce its scientific and industrial collaborations, particularly in the English speaking area. This justifies the signing on July 2nd, in Ottawa of the agreement, by their respective presidents, Arvind Gupta and Michel Cosnard.

The aims of MITACS is to develop new tools and methodologies in advanced mathematics. Its traditional field of research includes the following academic disciplines: physical sciences, engineering, medicine and social sciences. MITACS also acts on the development of networks, training, education, and brings its expertise in marketing.

Two scientific themes of collaboration were retained following the meeting of the two presidents: Security in networks and bio-medical Science.
