Objectives :

Direct and inverse scattering problems occupy a central part in current research on wave propagation phenomena. The basic inverse problem of interest will be the reconstruction of the shape of an obstacle from measures of the scattered waves. This problem arises in many real-life applications: sonar and radar imaging, medical imaging, non destructive testing, mines detection, archaeology...
This course will serve as an introduction to different methods in solving these inverse problems and give an overview of the state of art in this field. It will also provide an overview of recent progress in efficient numerical treatments of the corresponding forward problems.

Audience:

This course is addressed to students, researchers and engineers that are interested in direct and inverse scattering problems. It contains in particular basic courses that aim to make it accessible to non specialists.
