In addition to its participation in Framework programmes (FPs) INRIA takes part in other collaborations:

1/ European intergovernmental programmes

- The EUREKA / ITEA programme

EUREKA is a pan-European network for market-oriented, industrial R&D. Created as an intergovernmental Initiative in 1985, EUREKA aims to enhance European competitiveness through its support to businesses, research centres and universities who carry out pan-European projects to develop innovative products, processes and services.

ITEA (Information Technology for European Advancement) is a strategic pan-European programme for advanced pre-competitive R&D in software for Software-intensive Systems and Services (SiS).
This programme encourages the coordinated submission between European partners in order to get national fundings.

- The COST programme

(European Cooperation in the field of Scientific and Technical Research). COST is a European intergovernmental network for coordination of nationally funded research activities.The funds provided by COST support the coordination costs of the research networks (Actions), while the research is funded nationally.

2/ Programmes from the French Ministery of Foreign and European Affairs

- Hubert Curien Partnerships (formerly PAI)

In France, the Partenariats Hubert Curien are set up and financed by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the support of the French Ministry for Education, Higher Education and Research.

- The ECONET programme

The goals of this programme, which has been created by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are:
- Accompanying the construction of the European Research Aera by bringing some help to build scientific and technological cooperations between France and EECA (Eastern European and Central Asian countries)
- Favoring the opening of the European Research Aera to Western Balkan countries, Russia and new independant states.

3/ Programmes from INRIA

The purpose of the Collaborative research initiatives is to foster synergy between teams with different, but complementary, skills and support areas of research which require contributions from researchers from several fields or organisations.

- Associated teams

NRIA's Associate Team programme was launched with a view to promote and develop the Institute’s best international collaborations with internationally renowned research teams in the long-term. The programme entails the provision of sustainable financial support so that researchers can regularly visit different partners, create exchange programmes between students and post-doctorates, organise joint workshops and conferences and make joint publications.

4/ Virtual laboratory AIR & D

The Ambient Intelligence R&D consortium (AIR&D) was founded in november 2001 by INRIA, Philips and Thomson Multimedia. The Fraunhofer joined the lab in 2007. It is entirely devoted to the development of consumer applications in a very hot research field, ambient intelligence.
