Hosted by Michel Cosnard, the president and CEO of INRIA, 120 people took part in this forum. In his opening address, Zoran Stancic, the deputy director general at the Research DG of the European Commission, underlined the need for proper management of intellectual property rights in order to ensure effective transfers. The evidence given by Laurent Kott, CEOl of INRIA-Transfert, put the spotlight on his company's winning formula, with 90 startups created. The open session, facilitated by Christophe Leclerc, a journalist with Euractiv, brought together a high-level panel. Participants and key members of the research world, innovation, the European Commission and Parliament debated the best way to achieve pan-European transfer of technology.
When closing the forum, Catherine Trautmann, MEP and vice-president of the ITRE commission whose responsibilities include research in particular, presented a number of European initiatives aimed at supporting ICST research. She also emphasized the importance of scientific education for young people, a genuine investment for the future. |
