The INRIA Nancy - Grand Est Research Centre was founded in 1986; it has a workforce of 480, 210 paid by the INRIA, including 63 research scientists and 65 support staff.
Its research teams were formed with the help of partnerships with Henri Poincaré University in Nancy, the universities of Metz, Nancy 2 and Strasbourg, the INP in Nancy and the CNRS, and mainly with their laboratories, LORIA (Lorraine laboratory for computer science and application research) and IECN (Institut Elie Cartan). The INRIA is also present, through dual location project teams with Nancy, on sites in Metz, Besançon and Strasbourg.
