Antoine Petit has been appointed as Director of the INRIA Paris - Rocquencourt Research Centre on July 17, 2006.

Following an agrégation in mathematics, Professor at the Ecole Normale Supérieure of Cachan, Antoine Petit went on to earn a Ph.D. for his thesis in language theory from the University of Paris 7, leading him to study models, mainly based on transition systems, for parallelism and real time. In a recent past, he occupied the function of the Vice-president for Research at the STIC department of CNRS and has been in charge of the CNRS inter-regional Direction of South-west.
