On June 2006, Gérard Giraudon has been appointed as Director of the INRIA Sophia Antipolis - Méditerranée Research Centre.

He joined INRIA in 1984 as Senior Research Scientist, he was Director of the Industrial Relations then Director for Scientific Information and Communication. In 1999, he was appointed as Director of Development and Industrial Relations.
