Doctor of Science, professor at the Université de Rennes 1, Jean-Pierre Banâtre is a specialist in software architectures and program development (particularly parallel programming) using specifications and unconventional computation models (chemical models). Having headed the INRIA Rennes (IRISA) research unit for 9 years and then INRIA Rocquencourt for nearly 4 years, he was a member of the European and International Relations Department where he was concentrating his efforts on INRIA's European Affairs. In November 2006, he is appointed as Director of European Partnerships.
