On 1^st March 2007, Laurent Kott is appointed as scientific adviser to the Technology Transfer and Innovation Department for national incentives and partnerships within the Competitive clusters.

Former student at the École normale supérieure in Cachan, Laurent Kott is a Doctor of Science in mathematics, with a major in computer science. University professor from 1981 to 1998, he was Deputy Managing Director at INRIA (1990-1996) then Delegate General for technology transfers (1996-2005). In this capacity, Laurent Kott coordinated INRIA's transfer and result exploitation policy and was actively involved in the creation of INRIA-Transfert where he has served as Managing Director since 1998.  He was also responsible for the launch of the first "start-up funds" managed by I-Source Gestion. Since 1 April 2001, Laurent Kott is in charge of the "Competitive Cluster" mission for INRIA's general management.
