Max Dauchet has been appointed as Director of INRIA Lille - Nord Europe Research Centre on January 1^st, 2007.

Associate professor of mathematics, a Doctor of Science, Professor at the University of Science and Technology in Lille, Max Dauchet is an expert in tree automata and term rewriting systems. He went on to conduct research in the fields of algorithmic information theory and bioinformatics. He created the Laboratoire d'Informatique Fondamentale de Lille (LIFL), where he served as Director for nine years.  From 1992 to 1995 he was responsible for developing computer science at CNRS. More recently, he was the Delegate for Research and Technology in the Nord-Pas de Calais region and fulfilled various responsibilities for French ministries. Max Dauchet has been appointed as Director Delegate to the Director of INRIA Futurs Research Centre, where he took up his functions on June 1^st, 2007. He is oversee the implementation for the INRIA Lille - Nord Europe Research Centre.
