Eurographics 2004, the most important European conference dedicated to computer graphics and virtual reality, will be held this year in France. Organized by INRIA Rhône-Alpes, it will take place from August 30 th to September 3 rd, 2004, at Europole - Congress Centre, in Grenoble.

- A meeting point between scientific experts and key industrialists from the computer graphics domain

Under the overall organization of the Eurographics association, each Eurographics conference is, in turn, organized in different European countries and gathers key manufacturers and the most famous public or private laboratories in the field of computer graphics and its applications.

For its 25th edition, Eurographics 2004 will be held in Grenoble ; the previous French edition was held in Poitiers, in 1996.

More than 500 scientists, industry representatives and users will meet at Europole - Congress Centre for 5 days and will be presenting their new research results and technologies applied to video games, multimedia, scientific visualization, man-machine interactions and virtual reality.

- A program combining high-quality scientific presentations and demonstrations of industrial applications

Beside scientific presentations about on going research in the most famous world laboratories (Universities from America, Europe, Japan, public and private research centers including MITSUBISHI), Eurographics 2004 proposes :

  • state of the art tutorials on the use of computer graphics for medical applications, the development of supercomputing (grid computing) for scientific visualization and the development of interactive environments for virtual handling of deformable objects ;
  • two days will be dedicated to scientists as well as manufactures : presentation of innovations and advanced techniques in computer graphics ;
  • seminars for industrialists focusing on computer graphics projects : their financing, technology transfer aspects and examples of development experiences ; showcase of real-time graphics applications and environments as well as virtual reality show case ;
  • special sessions related to teaching computer graphics and the use of computer graphics technologies in education programs and practices ;
  • computer graphics art show combining art and science.
