INRIA plays a leading role in the international scientific community in the field of ICST. Together with several academic partners, the Institute has about 150 research groups, called "project-teams", that host over 2 500 researchers, faculty members, postdocs and PhD students. It is a major participant in technology development and transfer in France and Europe. In this case, INRIA create International Endowed Chairs. International academic and research chairs are intended to strengthen the research effort in crucial areas of technological development and innovation.
