Project-Team Presentation

Joint project-team with LRI (CNRS and University of Paris Sud), Located in Orsay.

The main objective of the ARMOR project is the identification, the conception or the selection of the most appropriate architectures for the implementation of communication services, as well as the development of tools (computing tools, mathematical tools) in order to perform these tasks. ARMOR is a joint project between Inria, the CNRS, the university of Rennes 1 and the ``École Nationale Supérieure de Télécommunications de Bretagne (ENST Bretagne)''. It was created in May 1999.

Research themes

Control in networks

Design of networks' architectures, or of mechanisms aiming to work on the flows in order to satisfy different quality of service criteria.

Network analysis

This theme concerns research works on analytical methods, or on different classes of simulation techniques. The goal is to develop new methods for models' evaluation, for dependability of performance purposes.

Protocols

In an orthogonal way with respect to previous described themes, we work on different important protocols, almost exclusively in the Internet world and from different points of view: this goes from protocol engineering to performance evaluation. Some examples are IPv4, IPv6, TCP, MPLS, ROCH,...

International and industrial relations

  • Industrial partnerships with telecommunication operators (France Telecom, Bouygues Telecom, ...), with manufacturers (Alcatel, HP, THALES, ...), with national institutions such as DGA (defense), EDF (electricity company), ... Research projects with national and international industrial partners. In 2001, the topics were security, vulnerability, transition IPv4-IPv6, UMTS, etc. European project ITEA RTIPA (Real Time Internet Platform Architectures), on different topics concerning the future IP networks.
  • Academic relationships in Europe (Universities of Budapest, Vienna, Pisa, ...), in North America (university of Arizona, Duke University, CalPoly at Los Angeles,...), in South America (Federal University at Rio de Janeiro, Republic University of Montevideo, ...).
  • Associated Team PAIR (Planning of the Architecture and the Infrastructure of Networks) with the Faculty of Engineering at the Republic University of Montevideo.
