Team Presentation

CardioSense3D is an INRIA Large Initiative Action aimed at developping an electro-mechanical model of the heart.

This model should lead to a better understanding of the cardiac physiology and an improvement of medical practice in terms of better prevention, diagnosis, quantitative follow-up, simulation and guidance of therapy.

This action gathers researchers from team ASCLEPIOS located at INRIA Sophia Antipolis - Méditerranée and teams MACS, SISYPHE and REO located at INRIA Paris - Rocquencourt.

Research themes

We focus on three main research axes :
  • Building a cardiac simulator that couples 4 different physiological phenomena: electrophysiology, mechanical contraction and relaxation, myocardium perfusion and cardiac metabolism
  • Building patient-specific cardiac models by estimating parameters and states from medical images and electrophysiology signals.
  • Building applications to solve clinical problems related to the diagnosis or therapy of cardiac pathologies.

International and industrial relations

This action involves several clinical centers like Hôpital Européen Georges Pompidou, Guy's Hospital in London (with University College London), the laboratory of Cardiac Energetics at National Institutes of Health in Washington DC.

It also involves several academic partners from INRIA (GAMMA, CAIMAN, GEOMETRICA), CNRS (LIRMM), INSERM (CREATIS), french university (Université de Nantes) as well as several industrial partners (PHILIPS, ELA Medical).
