Project-Team Presentation

This project-team is dedicated to the study of the problems of command and control in autonomous mechanical systems, with a special but not exclusive focus on robotics. The main target is to develop a methodology for the design and integration of each link in the chain.

Research themes

  • Algorithms and theoretical aspects of control. Extending the theory through handling non-standard problems.
  • Acquisition and use of sensory data. Robot autonomy capacity is linked to the utilization of exteroceptive sensors and the use of sensory data in the control loops.
  • Architecture and programming for robot controllers. The complexity of the applications makes it essential to study and develop appropriate systems for programming and simulation.

International and industrial relations

  • Participation in the G.R.S.M., a research association of laboratories and companies from the South of France involved in undersea robotics.
  • Participation in the Project Otarie, sponsored by the PACA Region Council, with Ifremer, Cybernetix andThomson-Marconi-Sonar.
  • Scientific collaboration with the Instituto Superior Technico of Lisboa (Portugal), the University of Campinas (Brazil), and the Technical University of Denmark.
  • Ongoing contacts with Sagem S.A., Renault S.A., and CEA.
