INRIA is now a designated operator for the French National Research Agency (ANR). In this capacity, it created SUPCOR – Support Services for Collaborative Research Initiatives – on 1 January 2008.
ANR regularly
relies on research institutes to organise the evaluation of its many
calls for projects, as well as their management and tracking.
For INRIA, creating a support structure and becoming a privileged ANR partner
is an opportunity aligned with its aim to extend its investment in ICST research
and cross-cutting themes related to numerical systems.
SUPCOR mission

SUPCOR is overseen by INRIA's Research Department. Further to an
agreement with ANR, INRIA will carry out the following on behalf
of the agency:
- Implementation of calls for projects and selection procedures
(consulting and evaluation), in an open manner aligned with ANR's
ethical guidelines;
- Scientific management and follow-up;
- Administrative and financial management of selected projects.
In 2008, INRIA was asked to manage two programmes, both overseen
by ANR's information science and technology department:
