Summary training-through-research |
|||
Throughout the period of study, INRIA encourages all its young researchers to develop a deeper general scientific culture by taking supplementary courses.
INRIA organises and co-organises seminars and thematic schools. These usually
last for a week or two. They provide an overview of a subject that is not
necessarily that of the thesis, and also give the student a chance to meet
other young researchers.
Such supplementary training courses are chosen by the doctoral student in liaison
with his or her Supervisor.
The IT Resources units at some research centres also offer training for systems
engineering assistants.
In addition to university courses, courses on business and industry and English
lessons may also be options offered by some research centres.
Lastly, young researchers are free to make the most of the many contacts developed
between INRIA and its academic and industrial partners, both in France and all
over the world. Trips to work and study at foreign laboratories are particularly
encouraged.
