Contribute to software development together with research teams.
Why join INRIA?With research activities extending from mathematics to robotics, we work in an extremely promising sector with extremely broad domains of application. You will work within a research project-team and have contact with scientists and technicians of all nationalities. The small size of these research teams fosters a climate of exchange, dialogue and respect for each individual. The environment is intellectually rich. Working with us will give you the opportunity to forge close ties with industry through our many partnerships. You may also have the chance to help launch a start-up, given our proven track record in technology transfer. In any case, working at INRIA is an excellent way to enhance your CV, as the Institute is highly regarded amongst industry groups. We have implemented a policy of professional development which favours personal growth and motivation through a stimulating offering: orientation and support programmes, skill assessment, training sessions, validation of professional experience, etc. Good things to know... Since 2000, INRIA has been pursuing an ambitious development programme aimed at doubling the Institute's size in 10 years.

Positions availableEngineering positions are mainly offered as fixed-term contracts (up to three years), generally equivalent to the length of the industrial contract to which they are related. These contracts are proposed throughout the year. Permanent positions at INRIA are for civil servants: you can qualify through a competitive selection process or by requesting a transfer if you are already a permanent civil servant.
There is also an annual campaign specifically aimed at young graduates hoping to start their career with an experience in research. |
What the professionals say“Our role is to facilitate the work of the researchers, with the aim of enabling them to perfect their developments. They express their needs (we help them in that, too) and we develop the necessary tools. On occasion, our respective roles are closely interlinked. At present, I’m providing support and development on our virtual reality experimental platform. Elsewhere, I’m in charge of development working with the REVES research team, which produces audio-equipped virtual environments. We use open source software, allowing us to share our work as we go along. I find it very stimulating.” David G., Senior Application Development Engineer, INRIA Sophia Antipolis- Méditerranée
“I contribute to several research projects, sometimes getting involved at the very early stages.Part of my job is to provide support on software development and experimental platforms for a number of research teams: user advice, platform installation and maintenance, training and familiarization with new development tools. The other part is to work on developing a platform for assembling computer clusters. In this job, you need to have the curiosity to be constantly on the look-out for new solutions and to stay up to date on the latest development tools.” David M., Development Engineer, INRIA Rennes - Bretagne Atlantique |
