By merging in 1996 the Department of the Development and the Department
of the Industrial Relations, INRIA created the Department of the Development
and the Industrial Relations (DirDRI
) to stimulate the valorization and transfer activities of research
results of the institute.
This Department creates and sets in motion cooperative R&D actions
to which INRIA research projects, world economic partners, and other
research organizations participate.
The objective is to both strengthen local initiatives in the research
projects and to reinforce the coordination of the actions and the terms
by which they are carried out.
Its team is comprised of people attached to the Headquarters. This
includes its Director, its Deputy Director, and its correspondents who
are attached to each Research Unit in charge of Development and Industrial
Relations. For its international and European business contacts, DTI
makes use of its correspondents that are assigned by the Director of
International Relation Department.
DTI coordinates and harmonizes the relationship between industry
and the research projects, it participates in finalizing the terms of
collaboration agreements and contracts, and it takes part in the promotion
of the research and development works of the Institute. It monitors
the evolution of portfolios, the research contracts, the exploitation
licenses, and the software. It also applies the Institute's policies
in regards to intellectual ownership, normalization, and standardization.
In regards to legal matters, DTI makes use of the Division of Legal
and Administrative Affairs at the Headquarters, (SAJAS).
The means by which DTI intervenes in all the areas of decentralization
and partnership, can be described as follows :
- To Understand : DTI should be open to listen
to both the results of research projects of the Institute, and the
needs of partners on the outside. The greater the efficiency of this
method is, the stronger the initiative of the project will be.
- To Propose : DTI should identify opportunities
of valorization, and both motivate and help the actors involved by
proposing the appropriate partnerships.
- To Coordinate : DTI orientates and guides the
choice of the organization and the terms of the transfers activities
of the Institute so as to concretely optimize their impact. It is
the particular responsibility of DirDRI to conduct each developmental
action.
- To Manage : DTI is engaged in the service of
the Institute through its operating procedure with partnerships of
all sizes, and the deployment of the financial and human resources
at its deposition. This managerial role is central to the Institute
and makes use of all the services and projects both at the Research
Units and the Headquarters.
